I have a theory why people think the "sound engine" is bad

Blegh, people who complain about the soundengine,..
Sometimes I'm listening to tracks from the 90's, they don't sound (mostly) good as these days sound quality,
but as long as the song has good arrangements and good vibe.. it's all good. But that's just my opinion.
I think it's just an excuse, blame it on the soundengine.. if u can't get the sound right.

you can take it even further... a lot of music is only bearable because of the production quality, like berlin minimal, it's musically the worst shite
but sounds good, a lot of hell good music is not overwhelmingly shiny produced...

and it's gets tricky if you are neither a good musician nor a good producer... who to blame then?

to me it's more the soul of the music itself that counts. (even i totally dig great productions, but they still come second)

Have you guys ever watched or listened to the interviews the magazines have done with some of the bigger artists out there. These guys don't care if they know what they're talking about and more than half of the time, the terminology they use is wrong. All they know is what sounds good to them and that they're making money doing something they enjoy. And honestly, that's all that should matter to us, too! Why does any of this matter? Are we really that offended? The reaction you're giving is like someone came to you and told you that your mother and sister are whores. Don't buy into the bullshit. If it sounds good to you, then it'll sound good enough to most. These top-level producers that are feeding the sound engine bullshit to us are the same guys that think analog sounds better than digital, that DJing with CDs isn't the same as vinyl, when in fact, we all know damn well that digital audio and video is cleaner than analog anything.

If you choose to "clean up" and finish your tracks in another DAW program, well, that's your choice. I say, the same end results can be achieved in Live.

Now if you can show me actual physical evidence that the audio isn't the same when recorded dry and exported with Live as it is with other DAWs, I'll eat my words.

This was my exact reaction to Villalobos' trash-talking. There are a lot of big artists out there who do have a *ton* of technical knowledge (I don't really like his last few albums, but BT is one "star" who comes to mind as having a ridiculous level of technical understanding, though he's a Berklee grad, which probably helps). My feeling, though, is that Ricardo's brilliance (and he is freaking brilliant) comes from his musical knowledge, not his technical knowledge/skill.

Everybody is overthinking this. Guys are visual. Live looks like poop and "not professional" to some people.

People like what they like for all kinds of reasons. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for visual proof. I think they have better things to do, like make tracks using Live and mixing down in another program. Besides, this isn't a saw wave and aliasing, it's a mix. An esthetic thing, it's mysterious. I wouldn't worry about it, do what you do. People prefer what they prefer. Bounce some tracks out and compare for yourself, that's what I'm going to do when the time comes. Live rules and if there are ways to improve it I hope they do, but as Henke said some difference in DAW's result from choices they have to make. I didn't know that. There's a lot of things I don't know. I do know a lot of people prefer mixing down outside Live, for a lot of different reasons. It's something to consider but it definitely doesn't keep me up at night.
