8.1 sucks

8.1 sucks

i use over 500 clips in my project.
system: 10.6.2
8.0.9 loads it in 2 minutes.
8.1 spends over 10 minutes on the same project, and goes freezing after.
why ableton team have made such dramatical mistakes??
why compress / decompress the projects??
8.1 is absolutely stupid & annoying,
i STRONGLY RECOMMEND: DON'T INSTALL 8.1

P.S. dont try to think it's buffering non-wavs or non aif's again, everything is buffered. first open of the project, incl. buffering, took around 1 hour!

your problem is not Live, it's the 500 clips you are trying to play, check out the video in the renoise thread and listen to that song, see you only need 12 clips to play that song, that's the future, you need to get your hands on a stepsequencer and those 12 clips plus a haircut from the future and you will be cutting edge, quick go now do it, don't even finish reading this.

He said project, not song. I myself have also more than 200 songs/loops/clips in my dj project and I know a bunch of people who use Live with similar amounts of clips.

Don't know what's going on, but I also had the rebuffering issue. Maybe ask the tech support directly.

OP - how are you doing on drive space? many times I'll download a new version (big file) Live will run like shit but it's because I had 100Mb of space left.

hopefully you kept a 8.0x version around.

where the fuck is John Gordon he'll sort this mess out, I happen to know he only uses 499 clips and runs Live like a fine european sports car.

Had a similar problem last gig. Opened my project in 8.1 before the show, did a few tweaks and saved. Then realized that the LiveAPI didn't work properly. Went back to 8.0.x and.... of course couldn't open the file any more. Let's hope he didn't save it in 8.1 or kept a backup. :? (I had one :D)

i too have noticed some performance/ stability related issues in 8.1

I'm getting CPU spikes up to %600 percent at times in 8.1.
