In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

There was a video here some time ago of a child around his age who could actually mix properly. I'm not too impressed.

Maybe my classical roots make me too much of a fogey, but I just don't get the allure of DJing. I respect it, I have friends that do it, but I just don't get it.

Maybe it's like Pops said about jazz, "If you have to ask you'll never know."

agreed. it was just a link I found with Stumble Upon, thought I'd throw it on the pile.

on the flip side there are thousands of videos of 3 week old Japanese kids playing everything from the violin to John Bonham drum patterns.

But there was something about seeing a kid doing it (regardless of quality) that made me realize I don't get it.

hey string, it's kind of like violence but instead of beating people up you use your hands to manipulate records on turntables without the violence, and the people are the ones doing the record manipulating not getting beat up,get it?

So it's basically nothing like violence... :|

Where's the fun in that?

If I can't practice my axe for a few hours and then go hurt some people to relax afterwards... well sir, to me that's no art at all.

This reminds me of me and my friend's idea of "Violent Jazz." Jazz that actually hurts the audience.

I got beaten up by Sir Eugene Chadbourne with his rake at age of 16. Changed my life forever. Violent Jazz, yes, Sir. I obey.
