have at least one backup of that FAT16 formatted card with the OS on it (1.72 was the last for MPC2000).... if i remember right, the MPC will read and write FAT32 disks so you can swap to and from your computer, but it will only boot from FAT16. and stick to the old PC protocol of naming everything in 8 characters (i.e. XXXXXXXX.SND, XXXXXXXX.PRG, etc) or you'll run into issues.aizo wrote:I got it from SCSIFORSAMPLERS.com
MY Flash Card Reader isn't hot swappable. So the OS needs to be on the CF
They ship the flash card to you with the OS on it so it just takes about 3 - 5 seconds to boot up!
i haven't used it in a while, but i could never bring myself to get rid of my 2000..... and tracks done with it always sounded noticeably better than stuff i did in the computer - laziness and convenience trumps sonic quality again FTW...
edit: i see now that's an XL...... no need for the OS on a spare card like you would with a standard 2000
