this seems like it should work with no snags.
building an analog style sequencer in reaktor to control a VSTi on a different channel in live.
the one thing I wish live had was a simple 16 step analog-style sequencer with randomize.
I downloaded one from reaktor's user library that was suppossed to be set up to send midi out. the sequencer worked fine as a plug in, and would sequence this crappy mono-synth that was already built into the ensemble. this was on channel "MIDI 1".
on channel "MIDI 2" I loaded a VSTi (I loaded several from different developers), and set the "midi from" menu to "MIDI 1", I thought this would do it, but did not.
the construction of the sequencer seemed solid. i am about to build one myself (which should only take under 1/2 hour), but i want to see if anyone else has tried this yet, or if anyone has any helpful tips.
Reaktor4 as VSTi to sequence VSTi on a different channel. ??

I tried something similar with Flstudio (the VSTi version of it)- i ended up using midi yoke or similar to route the MIDI from one to the other .

here's where I'm at...
please correct any assumptions I have made in regards to Reaktor or Live's midi capabilities.
...live is not capable of recieving midi from a VSTi.
the "midi from" tab on the channel strip refers to the midi input device armed on that channel, not the midi information being sent out from the plug-in assigned to that channel.
Reaktor has extensive midi routing capabilities, and I have no trouble sending midi out through my AMT-8 (8 midi in/out usb device), so I thought I could send the midi information out of midi-out 1 on my AMT-8, into midi-in 2 (each midi in/out being completely isolated) and then set the midi input device in live to be from midi out 2.
When running Reaktor as a standalone app, I have 12 choices of what output I want to send midi information to, but when I run it as a VSTi, I only get 1, and it's called just "plugin".
there HAS to be a way around this, either in Reaktor, or in Live.
please help!!!! anyone?
