Having not used Ableton for a couple of months, I went to open the application and received the message "The Application Live Quit Unexpectedly". This was after the program had scanned for VST's and then scanned the audio units.
I tried downloading the latest version and installing but got the same problem. I have also tried uninstalling my soundcard (M-Audio Firewire Audiophile).
I've tried the various forums with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
thanks

Re: The Application Live Quit Unexpectedly...
Hi Stu Hirst,
it sounds like there´s a conflict with one or more of your installed plug-ins. Please remove all plug-ins from your VST/Audio unit folders. Move them back one by one (or in small groups) and try to start Live in order to identify the problematic plug-ins.
Or contact Support with your crash-log attached. You can find it here:
user/library/logs/crash-reporter/live xx xx xx crash.
Best,
Jörg

Re: The Application Live Quit Unexpectedly...
Hi,
I had the same thing. Probably due to NI Komplete vst's.
Solved the problem doing this (typical NI workaround
):
-moved all vst's to a temporary folder on my desktop.
-launched live 8
-while live is still open, moved all vst's back to original place
-rescanned all plugins in live prefs
-closed live
next time you open live everything works normally (in my case anyway), try at your own risk,
hope this helps, grtz, Pavel from Rotterdam.

Re: The Application Live Quit Unexpectedly...
hmm forget that last workaround,
doesn't seem to work anymore after restart, sorry for that.
Need to contact application support after all..
do you have some new experience you can share for solving this problem?
tnx and grtz, P.

Re: The Application Live Quit Unexpectedly...
live 7 seems to open normally, what is different in live 8 so it crashes when scanning the vst's??
