Please Help!

All of a sudden every time i open Live 8 it stays on for a second then shuts down! Im on a brand new macbook pro anybody have this issue and know the fix???

search for preferences.cfg and delete it

Also, if deleting the config file doesn't work try unplugging your controllers and devices and then starting Live. If it works then add them back one at a time. You may find a bad seed or that 2 of them are fighting for the same space.

where would i find the config file?

if you're on a PC its in...

c:/documents and settings/[username]/application data/ableton


I know your not on a PC but I posted the path anyway because it might give you a clue where to find it on your Mac...

That is, if no one chimes in who knows that platform...

also, you could do as longjohns suggested and do a search for the file "preferences.cfg"

if you're worried about deleting it, as in you're not sure you found the right one, rename it (preferences-old.cfg) and take note of where it is so that you can give its old name back later...

OSX: /user/library/preferences/ableton/live x.x/preferences.cfg

thanks so much guys deleted it and still doing the same thing!

it worked! only problem is now all vsts are gone

so now just select the vst folder in the preferences.

after all, you deleted the preferences

The VSTs aren't gone... You just have to tell Live where to look again.
It forgot, when you erased its memory.
