They are. Then they mix in Logic. Wish I could find where I read this (funny interview about spilling coffee on their equipment to achieve certain sounds).

chris clark indeed ... his new album 'Totem's Flare' is stunning ... would love to see it performed live at an outdoor event ... great stuff ...

+1 on Boards of Canada & Dabrye. I agree that BOC is mostly hardware, a lot of guitar playing on their last record also (then sampled & effected).
Royksop, incredible synth sounds, fm/ cross modulation I think.
Lastly, Fever Ray, a friend tweaked some sounds after she finished tracking at home (in Ableton), forget the guys name. The fm percusive sounds are incredible, and the mix is astonishingly defined.

Prefuse73.. would be nice to see their flow as well...

and Massive attack : there's a great article about their studio in SOS...
amazing to see how minimal it is...
