Thanks for the recommendation guys. I tried to apply some of them.
So the good news is, that all went smoothly during takeoff and throughout the flight.
The bad news, as soon as we started descending, it got bad. the Ears started to get clogged and the pressure got to a point where it was excruciatingly painful. I was trying my hardest not to start screaming in agony.
Needless to say, after we landed I felt like I was nearly deaf. I checked out some online instructions shortly after, to try and unclog... And good news again, it worked! Was kind of annoying but it gave results.
A combination of saline nasal solution, tilting my head in various directions, and some valsava did the trick.
My ears still feel a little weird, but a vast improvement over how I was feeling in the morning. I'm hopeful hat within the next day or so, they'll be totally back to normal.

seriously dont valsalva, it only works when your going under pressure not decompressing, the valsalva presurises the middle ear to eaqualise with ambiant pressure.
if youve landed back at normal atmosphere and your ear hurts is't because your not releasing the cabin pressure and your middle ear has become over pressured to then try and valsalva on top of that over pressurisation is realy risky as you could just end up adding more pressure.
afterall if you had no trouble going up but trouble comming down, it shows that the eustation tube is swolen/blocked in a way that is making it operate almost like a 1 way valve.
other than that the valsalva isnt a good idea when you have a cold, as it will drive the infection/mucus into the middle ear. and you can end up with a nasty ear infection.

I have horrible luck. I had to travel last night and once again I got a goddamn cold.
The verdict....
Black magic!!!!! I'm safe at my destination and my ears are clog-free. I did however also pop an anticongestant just before boarding and chewed on a lot of gum throughout pretty much the entire flight, so I'm not sure how effecive the earplanes were by themselves. I'd say they definitely gave me an advantage over just resorting to chewing gum and popping that pill. worth checking out.
after reading this again, I got curious, googled earplanes and ended up buying a pair at a nearby pharmacy.Sibanger wrote: Earplanes are a product I would like to try next time I fly
