I'd puke if mine disappeared.
In regards to the cpu comment. Maschine itself is not a cpu hog. It's simply that it has the ability to load A LOT of shit (fx etc.). Very similar to a drum rack that way. So it all depends how you use it. I've made kits that hardly dent the cpu because they aren't fx heavy. But if you think of the fact that there are 8 groups, each with 16 pads. And each pad has it's own shaping/dynamics tools (envelopes, comp, eq etc.), and can also have 2 extra effects, plus each group can have effects as well as the master. So it can add up.

you might or might not be concerned about this smu but at first I really didn't like the efx but now I'm in sample mangling heaven, between maschine and Live there are too many sonic possiblities to count and for us non-maxpatch heads around here maschine is a great way to reach new sonic territory and most of allglitchrock-buddha wrote:necho wrote:I want Maschine so badly I could puke.![]()

it's extremely fun. you probably only need to sell one of the technics but I'd search out a used maschine before I did that.

Yeah man, my 1200's are mad old and not in the best shape. They work just fine but there's no dust covers, and when you pick them up the feet will fall off. Not very attractive by themselves to potential buyers.
My mixer is a Pioneer DJM 500, it's in good shape but it isn't exactly current. I think the most enticing thing to a potential buyer is my Serato, but the box on its own isn't going to get me where I need to be so I figured I'd bundle everything together.
If I bundle it all together with my Serato box for a decent price I can probably get what I need to get what I want to get quickly, with no money out of pocket. I'll have to do a little research and see what folks are paying for used Serato these days and see where I'd come out when tossing in the decks and mixer.
I also need to check the specs on my blackbook and see how it looks, it might not be worth it at all if my blackbook is under spec'd or just barely makes it. In that case I might look at another box..... or maybe a TV....

2nd all the positives said here. Bought Maschine in the summer and have never looked back. The hardware itself feels great, the library is just awesome and the work flow is fun to use. First piece of gear I've found that is really easy to bring over to a buddies to 'jam'.
I'd recommend the purchase for sure. And like everyone else, I'm eagerly awaiting the 1.5 release.... SP1200 emulation

Hi student, just checked the specs on my blackbook and I'm spec'd out the same, minus a gig of ram (I can upgrade the ram, not really an issue).starving student wrote:
it is heavy on the cpu but my computer is no muscle machine at 2.0ghz cd2, 2gigs of ram
Snow leopard on 2ghz intel C2D macbook here.
So, NI website says this is the minimum spec - but you say you are getting along fine with your setup eh?

You'll be fine with a 2.0ghz macbook. I ran it on a 2.16 for a while with no complaints. No different than loading up some drum rack preset in a live pack from ableton. Actually those can be even worse.

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
Right on, yeah I just got confused for a second there as to the differences between a core duo and a core 2 duo - apparently the minimum is a core duo 2ghz and I have a core 2 duo 2 ghz, so I am above spec... I think.
(maybe still a little confused)
But yeah, thanks for that info. Going to put my stuff on Craigs List most likely tomorrow.

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
hey smu, yeah the blackbook cd2 2.0ghz 2gigs ram is what I'm running on, do i wish I had more yes, is it enough yes, I haven't optimised anything and admittedly my puter is a mess, using it for too many things but loading maschine inside of live was giving me more issues than I thought it should cpu wise, I was using maschine with an m-audio transport initially and I have a motu ultralite that runs maschine better than the transport does. It's not the worse but it could be better.
Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
I'm having crazy delicious fun with just Maschine and Renoise and nothing else using the awesome Renoise template for Maschine that some guy in Finland made. It's just pure joy triggering scenes in Maschine from the Renoise pattern editor. I love the instant mapping of the 8 knobs to native renoise device parameters and all kinds of dedicated buttons for things like navigating between devices and views. The Maschine pads trigger and schedule Renoise patterns which is great for live jamming. This template covers so much that I can almost stop using the keyboard and mouse, which is crazy because Renoise is all about using the keyboard and mouse. I kinda feel bad for Live right now...
