A gig's a gig.
$400 for one hour of singing and playing trombone for an Episcopal Christmas Eve mass (and surfing the iPhone looking up all kinds of un-Christian things in between songs).
The lesson? Diversify and get paid.

You know as I was quietly cutting up with the bass trombonist during the service I realized I'm really the same stereotypical low brass troublemaker I was when I was sitting in high school band.

for $400 an hour id put on a fake smile, sing my nuts off and do the same thing, browse the ie on the phone.

6 years of playing the trombone quit paying off after 4 years of marching band for me.
