No, you don't need both versions. You can delete 8.1 and keep 8.1.1. But... you might like to hold on to 8.1 for a few days/weeks, just in case, like...LithiuMind wrote:Okay I'm confused. If we download the smaller version (for those who already have Live 8.1) do we need to have both versions (8.1 AND 8.1.1) installed simultaneously? I'm on OS X here.

But I mean, will the truncated version of 8.1.1 run fine on it's own?
Can I keep just the 916 MB 8.1.1 folder, and delete the 1.69 GB 8.1 folder? Or do I need to have the 1.69 GB 8.1.1 folder for it to operate fully on it's own? Or...do I need to have the 1.69 GB 8.1 folder for the 916 MB 8.1.1 folder to keep functioning properly?

Does the bigger one include the library content? Both are the same size in my ableton folder.LithiuMind wrote:But I mean, will the truncated version of 8.1.1 run fine on it's own?

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
I would guess that the difference between the full and truncated versions of 8.1.1 is that the full one updates a bunch of samples that were also updated in the same way in 8.1. So if you are going from 8.0 to 8.1.1, you need to install the full version; if you're going from 8.1 to 8.1.1, you don't.LithiuMind wrote:But I mean, will the truncated version of 8.1.1 run fine on it's own?
That's my guess; perhaps someone from Ableton will confirm it.

If my speculation is correct, the answer is no.LithiuMind wrote:Okay I'm confused. If we download the smaller version (for those who already have Live 8.1) do we need to have both versions (8.1 AND 8.1.1) installed simultaneously? I'm on OS X here.

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
every version of ableton installs separately, so you don't need live 8.1 to use 8.1.1. however, if you have the suite version installed of 8.1, you may just want to download the smaller file verison of 8.1.1 as you already have the suite installed and do not need to download it again. hope that makes senseark wrote:If my speculation is correct, the answer is no.LithiuMind wrote:Okay I'm confused. You have the normal version with "everything unlocked" which is the same as Suite WTF I don't get it either, anyway I like the coloured screen betterscientist wrote: also, my splash screen is color. isn't it supposed to be black & white?
