Hi folks,
The splash screen color is dependent on your authorization.
If you have Suite, it's black and white. If you have Live, it's in color.
But the installer itself doesn't know what your authorization is, so this appears in color. If you then authorize with a Suite license, the splash should appear in black and white the next time you launch Live.
Sorry if this all sounds unnecessarily confusing...

well i bought the suite and have the color screen. does this just mean that i'm authorized as live 8 + all the additional stuff then?Dennis DeSantis wrote:Hi folks,

and what's the difference in folder sizes between 8.1 and 8.1.1?

Hi folks,
As for the folder size question: the 8.1 and 8.1.1 installations are entirely independent. Once you've installed 8.1.1 you can safely delete 8.1 without affecting 8.1.1 at all.
(That being said, you might want to make sure 8.1.1 is really working better for you before doing this.)
Live's Library is shared between the installations, and uninstalling a version of Live won't delete its Library (unless you've manually copied it to inside the application folder or something like this.)

Yeah, I'm a suite user but get the color-splash as well.....trivial, I know, but just wanted to point out that the above assertion doesn't necessarily play out as written....scientist wrote:well i bought the suite and have the color screen. does this just mean that i'm authorized as live 8 + all the additional stuff then?Dennis DeSantis wrote:Hi folks,

So if I understand correctly, for users who had 8.1 Suite installed, they can download 8.1.1 Non-Suite, run the installation, then delete 8.1 Suite, leaving the smaller 8.1.1 Non-Suite version installed but keeping access to the Suite Plugins/Sounds.Dennis DeSantis wrote:Hi folks,

Urs Heckmann is already looking into this, but 8.1.1 is crashing the Audio Unit versions of Uhbik (not VST though).
Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
Yes, it happened with the 1.1 version of Uhbik and anything newer than Live 8.1. You should still be ok if you stay on Live 8.1 - at least that's my experience. After installation of 8.1.1 upgrade, my Live Suite 8.1 was downgraded to Live 8.1.1...?!
Interestingly all my Instruments from Live Suite 8 are there and yet "about live" clearly states Live 8 not Live 8 Suite and Live 8 Suite is listed as "Demo".
What tha...?

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
Yeah i upgraded to the suite when i upgraded to 8, It unlocked all the instruments but has always just said Live 8 in about Live. And my license says Live 8 +8 instruments (or however many it is) Makes me wonder next time i upgrade wether i will be upgrading as a suite owner (as i should be) or as a live owner with 8 instruments . Or indeed wether any of that makes any difference other than a colour splash screen. I dont suppose i am missing out on this world of sound am I? i think some clarification is needed here.

Kudos to Abes for being so forthcoming about these bugfixes.
It is endearing that a company respects its users enough to actually talk with them, and respond to their concerns about the stability and usability of their product.
+1 Bugfixes!
Thank you Abes!

Hi atlatnesiti and Emissary,
I'm not entirely sure why your license and/or splash screens appear as they do, but I'm working on it.
One question: did you purchase the boxed version of Suite or the download version?
Thanks,

I am happy to report that on Mac OSX 10.5.8 I've worked for two nights doing heavy Midi work with no crashes on 8.1.1 ! Yeah!
