soundforge not routing though firewire 410

I looked for an maudio forum on the net but couldn't find one, posting here on the offchance that someone might have a solution:

I use the firewire 410 for everything... the sound works fine for ableton and other programs where I have to select "asio" and set the firewire as the preferred sound card. however for soundforge, and programs like windows media player, where you cannot choose which sound card you want to use, it is only coming out of my laptop's speakers, through the mmx drivers. This is a real pain. I'm using soundforge 5, anyone know how to fix this problem. cannot play music or work properly with soundfiles.

Well, ditch SF for WaveLab, that will solve your problem <just kidding>

Actually, open up the 'Souinds and Audio Devices' applet in your control panel. Go to the audio tab and make sure that your FW410 is selected as the default device for audio playback.
