At the moment my account page shows Live 8 + 2 Instruments. When I upgrade to Suite it should show Live 8 Suite + 2 Instruments, right or?

No, definitely not. This is only the first small step towards a comprehensive fix.julienb wrote:is it the one Gerhard wrote about ?
Gerhard's post was less about a single "magic" release than it was about a general shift in priorities. Our focus now is on fixing bugs. Once we're satisfied with the stability and quality of Live 8, we'll resume work on future features.

Hey Abletons could you sneak a look at this thread
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=132400
some of us are having terrible crashes with live at the moment, but only when we switch sets. I am not sure where the crash logs are as there seems to be nothing in the bug reporting folder. Is that where they are supposed to be? Other than the crashes between set loading i have zero problems with the product, it hasn't crashed once during actual song writing since a few months ago.
Personally i have had this particular problem for at least the last 2 releases, and its only now i am realising its not going to get fixed unless i make a stink. Thanks for your time and an amazing DAW.

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
I don't know whether to
or
...
reasons:
I'm having constant audio hiccups....(never there before)
live not restoring a set properly after crash...crashes when trying..set destroyed..
crashes...
cannot load set to previous versions (8.0.x) because of the 'new file format'..
when trying to load 2cs' 'Aether' Reverb vst I get :
"failed to create vst : this VST plugin is not compatible with Live"(since b5 not fixed in this version)
loading former saved 'racks' with vsts and customized macro mappings lose their mappings and become 'greyed'...
this is only day 2 after the official release!
this is not a beta..
show coming up on Tuesday...
needless to say I'm gonna have to port my stuff to v7...
yay...more 'technical' work..
(sure do hope there are no bugs with v7+LaunchPad)
big big big fail ..this release..in so many ways...
it's been a year...and counting...
edit :
one more...loading kore playerFX and reaktorFX on the same return track...then deleting Kore...
...hangs computer forever
I'm done with this version I thinks...

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
LIVE 8.1.1 crash with a lot of my AU plugins...these plugins works fine in 8.1.
-All Nomad factory plugins
-All Stillwell Plugins
-IK CSR reverb
it crash as i soon as i drag these plugins in a track.
see topic :
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=133121
So, this version is completely unusable for me as a i rely a lot on these plugins
The VST version seems to work fine, but i've got a lot of presets saved as AU presets.....
There's also a crash that didn't happen in 8.09,
it crash as soon as a i try to undo a sliced audio loops..

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
An easily reproducible crash I noticed in 8.09 still occurs in 8.11:
1. Load "Editing Arrangements.als"
2. Switch to Session View
3. Select the first track, Bass
4. Press Ctrl + right arrow three times
I'm running Windows 7 Professional.

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
Wanted to share that I played a set on new year's eve with 8.1.1 and didn't experience a crash or an audio glitch.
The set was approximately 7GB in size with 24 tracks of 12 to 40-bar rendered audio clips spread across 25 scenes, with 4 external midi tracks, 4 internal effects returns, 12 inserted effects, 3 stereo channels of realtime vocal/instrument processing, 1 instance of Operator as a gate generator and 1 Drum Rack as a live percussion instrument.
Granted, this was not a very complicated setup; and I had to render tracks which I would have preferred to generate live; yet stability was paramount in this situation, and the sound was still rich with a lot of stuff going on. This was under OS X 10.6.2 on a 2.4Ghz MBP with 4GB ram, with all clips and instruments running off the internal 7200rpm drive, with a 256 sample buffer at about 18ms.
In contrast, the night before when editing and rendering parts with EastWest's Play engine, Live 8.1.1 crashed 3 times with a "Live has encountered a critical error message" popup on restart, and each time it reverted to a version several Undo steps prior, which necessitated increasing the "Save As" frequency to almost every step. While certainly a pain, I was grateful that it did not corrupt my set completely and instead reverted to a stable version.
So I am torn... Live 8 Suite as a musical instrument is empowering and amazing, and I am deeply grateful for having it in my life; yet it feels like something fragile which one needs to handle with care, that requires a specific set of variables to run smoothly. Of course that description applies to most high-end acoustic instruments as well.

Re: Live 8.1.1 is online! (change log included)
Yes "save as " has gotta be a staple of the writing process. Just my experience of losing and crashing during writing has left that permanetly embedded in my braincells. Live 8 is not the first version to have stability issues - also ableton have beentotally consistant in getting live running stabley( apart fro midi sync issues) in the longrung. Also tend to save at key points in the songwriting process;s as stages ie stage 1 stage 2 etcetc along the song/musics journey. Means i can always go back should i find i liked a particular part of an arrangment or writing part that i like better than the newer one.Akshara wrote:Wanted to share that I played a set on new year's eve with 8.1.1 and didn't experience a crash or an audio glitch.

Anyway can anyone tell me how to submit the required crashlog ( win6 ultimate 64) to ableton so i can help them examine and iron out the problems with live system hangups (in my case) ? I suggets evryone who wants to ease the porcess of live becoming stable again get into the habit of sending these crashlogs in.

OK ...
I figured out that Live installation has screwed some stuff in my system
1.reinstalled Aether...now works
2.reinstalled MOTU drivers...no pops and clicks..
...
disk spikes..almost 'random' crashes...
and can't drag my tracks into any of previous versions (incl. 8.1)
gonna try and export the clips individually ... see if that works (probly not)
btw
my computer is not prone to crash..
only times it does is when I use Live..
20 mins. ago it crashed when I pressed 'play' on a set..
