8.1.1 is the best release yet

Post by LoopStationZebra » Fri Jan 01, 2010 10:01 pm

Wow. Live for me on the whole has always been pretty stable. There were, however, 3 things that always drove me crazy:

1. That first MIDI note. Always a pesky problem, whether you're entering it on a keyboard, drumpad, whatever. A lot of times it just wouldn't record. After hours and hours of jamming, that seems to be fixed. Thank God, because it was an enormous pain in the ass.

2. Launchpad pops. Hmm. Changing scenes for me on the Launchpad (after building up 12 tracks or so) always resulted in an audible 'pop'. It was really bumming me out and I thought I'd have to adjust my set sizes. Bless my soul, but it seems to be fixed.

3. Alchemy seems to take slightly less CPU power. This may be in my head, but don't think so. Fast chord changes on some of my more rigorous piano based patches used to send my CPU into orbit. It's definitely calmed down now.

*shrug*

I hate kiss ass threads, but I was just too excited not to post.

for me it's definitely the worst performing release yet.

I haven't had the problems you mentioned (LP has been outstanding) or crashes but I found out yesterday my previous buffer settings slow Live to a halt at 192kHz. it seems to be OK with a small buffer at 48kHz, that will be today's pet project. :(

I had a 'corrupt .als file' a few days ago, Ableton Support sent me a corrected .als the next day.

Same here. My first day without a crash. It's not over yet though.

i am about to send 7 crash reports from one day, one while in the middle of a tune at my newyears gig.

its so embarrassing at the moment for me and trying to defend it as being new technology is wearing thin..

i have a feeling its related to max and not ableton, since was able to finish my set WITHOUT my monome..
