Upgrade advice

Hi all, just a quick upgrade question.

Currently, I own the full version of Live 6. The boxed version that came with the Essential Instruments Collection.

I would now like to upgrade to Live 8. Obviously, I'd love to get the suite, but I just can't afford it. So I have to choose between the download version of Live 8 and the boxed version. As far as I can tell the difference is that the boxed version comes with a newer version of EIC, a manual and stickers.

My question is: Given that I have EIC version one. Does it make any sense to pay $50 extra for the boxed version. The printed manual would certainly be nice, but the real question is the relative qualities of EIC 1 and 2. Is it worth the extra $50?

Better email support. I am in the same situation but assumed my Ableton 6 EIC would work, so went for the D/L version of 8.1.1 suite.

They've changed how authorization works - even though EIC worked in version 6 and every version of 7, it simply will not authorize in 8.1.1. I've got this into support so hopefully will have an answer soon.

Also, the woodwinds in EIC possibly have a problem. See this thread, and my comments in it:

Not sure why. It has no apparent relevance to the problem of using an older EIC with version 8.

Can we PLEASE get the question answered rather than misdirected?
