Questions regarding Launchpad customizing before buying
Hi, in my main musical project, I use monomes for triggering clips. In order to preserve my monomes when touring, I am planning to buy 2 LP.
So I've got a few questions :
-Can anybody share his experience when using 2 LP for controling 16 tracks?
-In session mode, can I assign one button to "stop all clips"?
-How can I change the way the colors for the clips ? Basically, I want one track green/one
track red, and so on. I don't care about the clip state. I just want alternate colors, that's a lot more efficient (I did this on my monomes).
-powered usb hub ?
-Are the leds bright enough on stage with bright lights ?
-Do you think I should wait, since I am pretty sure a bigger cliplauncher will be out soon ?

I don't thank you !
I've bought it anyway, with other stuff. Will re-sell it if not happy...

dunno if anyone's posted about using more than one at a time.-Can anybody share his experience when using 2 LP for controling 16 tracks?
yep, just tried it.-In session mode, can I assign one button to "stop all clips"?
if you could use max to tweak monome patches you could probably do the same for the LP. the programmers reference is at the bottom of the page here;-How can I change the way the colors for the clips ? Basically, I want one track green/one
track red, and so on. I don't care about the clip state. I just want alternate colors, that's a lot more efficient (I did this on my monomes).

yes but I connect mine straight to the computer since it's standard practice to not rely on USB hubs to power a device. sometimes it works, sometimes not.-powered usb hub ?
no idea. in direct sunlight they can wash out, in the dark they look like tasty candies.-Are the leds bright enough on stage with bright lights ?
no clue. people like to speculate what the industry will release next.-Do you think I should wait, since I am pretty sure a bigger cliplauncher will be out soon ?
you'll be fine, if you could like with the monome and get that running the LP will feel very similar and more refined.

That's a big thanks, TD.
I will try to make a max patch for the color coding when I have it, but I am affraid it will be more complicated. I never used any control surface, I will take a look to see if it's easy to deal with it. I had a hope there were a remote script or something like that to edit.

Re: Questions regarding Launchpad customizing before buying
Cool to know I am not the only one interested.
I've made this with monome for a few years : I made my 64 kit wit 2 colors. Then I custuomized my 128. Before this, I made a MIDI launcher with 8 colors (but no leds). I am playing live intensely, and it is absolutely obvious that alternated colors help A LOT to structure the visual representation of the session view.
I'll try to make it with le LP, but in a software way. No idea how easy it will be. I'll keep you informed, as I am still a kind of max noob. But my idea is that max is the way to go rather than m4l, because it is more simple to have an application in the bacgkground instead of loading it in each set. I also hope this can be done without max, just editing the remote script, although I am completely ignorant about this.

Hehe. Well, did you try the two at the same time yet? Do they show up as two devices with different color in Session view?chapelier fou wrote:Cool to know I am not the only one interested.

Re: Questions regarding Launchpad customizing before buying
hey guys,
stumbled across this when searching for info on USB hubs...
ive got two LPs (i bought one to team up with a VCM600 and i won one in a writing comp - cool, hey?). I only got the second one recently, so im not yet using it to its fullest (and im still on Live 7, no Max4L).
They do pop up as two separate control surfaces, each with their own coloured boxes (which it seems you cant change the colour of.. mine are pink & purple).
Im planning to use one to launch audio clips (which is what i've been doing), and the second one for midi clips and some drum work.
when i get Live 8 (its in the post) i would be v interested in your Max patch if you get it going (regarding the lights representing the colours on screen)... i can see how this would be a lot more useful when playing live : )'
cheers

Me too actually. I have a hard time not looking at the screen with the APC. Using 16 channels with 10 clips each, I see only green squares all over the place. I do have color logic in the project/template. One color for the main clip and its variations, another one for intros, and a third for rolls. 3 color representation on the hardware would be awesome.when i get Live 8 (its in the post) i would be v interested in your Max patch if you get it going (regarding the lights representing the colours on screen)... i can see how this would be a lot more useful when playing live : )

Re: Questions regarding Launchpad customizing before buying
Just received my LP this morning. Looking to how it works right now. My first impression is that it can ~easily be hacked, simply by replacing midi messages by others in max. The real good thing is it creates a dedicated midi port. I'll keep you informed, but I am not sure I'll have to do that quickly. I may be also too confident in my coding in max. I don't know, we'll see.
My plan is : do alternate columns red and green, and made the clips simply blink when playing.
