All tracks selected on newly opened set

Post by conny » Wed Mar 16, 2005 12:32 am

No big thing maybe, but all too often I get everything selected in arrangement without having asked for it.
It happens when opening a set that obviously was saved from the arrangement view. And it happens when switching from session to arrangement.
More then one time at every work pass I happen to drag the whole arrangement by mistake and have to undo (after some waiting).

Hi conny,

Basically the selections between session and arranger view are independent of each other. Furthermore the selection in the arranger view is saved within the document (but a selection does not make the document dirty).

So to open a Live set with a selection in the arranger can happen. To verify if it is a bug or not depends in which state the document was saved.
If you sure that there was no selection when you saved it but there is one when you open it then it seems to be bug and we would need a pattern to reproduce it.

regards,
Alex

OK Alex, it does probably not qualify for a bug but may irritating behavior.

It has to do with me, the loop marker in arrangement and the fact that there is two kinds of selection in Live - one more of a marker select and one real select. While clicking the loop marker (ruler), the first type is set for the arrangement and for rendering. Saving in that state and reopening, will turn the mark select into a hard select (different background color).

Same thing happens when I drag the ends of the loop marker - the "soft select" is turned on and when clicking at a clip to drag it, the soft select is turned to a hard, and dragging will drag the whole arrangement.

I'm beginning to learn ctrl + L to set the loop instead or dragging the beat numbers.
