map a midi control more than once?

Post by mattjames » Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:38 pm

Hey guys, just a quick question...

Is there a way to map a midi device so it's controlled by more than one control? This may not make sense, (it doesn't to myself...) so i'll give you an example.

I'm starting to use Ableton Live for DJing and I'm using the Behringer DDM4000 Digital Mixer & an Akai APC 40 to control Ableton Live. On my 4 track channels I have put three band EQ and the mixer controls the H/M/L.

So..

When I'm DJing and i fiddle with the EQ it's a bit of a pain putting the values back to default for the next track on the channel or whatever. So is there a way to add another midi control to the 3 band EQ so that it resets the values back to 0db?

Mapping multiple midi controls to one parameter in Live can't be done inside Live itself. You can take a look at 3rd party midi applications to maybe do this (haven't tried it, but Bomes is one program that come up a lot for extra control possibilities).

I figured some 3rd party midi software might be involved. Thanks, I'll look into Bomes and report back.
