I had the occasion to test a LP lent from my local dealer and I was pretty deceived : apart from the clip launching (and with no velocity), the controller side of this stuff is pretty weak and coarse.
So I just go on launching scenes with my novation remote...

The Lauchpad is all about seeing your clips in a light or darkended area, It's a visual representation with instant feedback. It rocks enough for me to buy,install live launchpad edition,realise live is a lot more awesome than it's no4 incarnate,buy live 8,Start ripping loops off my reason 2,3,4 songs and stop struggling to get a live set going in reason.
I have a novation remote,bcr2000,trigger finger,and 2 evo keyboards,which are now just slaves to launchpad.
I now worship at the ableton alter,although My sounds are still reason.
This package is mandatory
Something between the launchpad and the mpc thingo with descent faders and pots would be perfect(like the encoders off the bcr2000).
My two cents.
