Unable to remove default template at loading of V4.1

Post by darkenedsoul » Sun Mar 13, 2005 4:26 pm

It keeps the default template on the page no matter how many times I do a ctrl-w to close it. What's wrong with this picture? I'm able to load a default blank template (which I want it to do by default). How do I get this to load it up by default? This is really annoying....

Open the file you want (you don't close the present file first, it will want to go away when you try to load the new one)

go preference > defaults > save as default

Next time you launch Live, your file will open straight away.

Note that (on the Mac at least) there are separate pref folders for each new version f Live, so you have to copy the default file, which is stored in the pref folder (each time you update)

So just load up a default template, then go and save that off under defaults? Why can't I delete it in the first place? My buddy was able to on first ctrl-w/menu->delete session. Why it won't for me is what was bothering me. I'll set the default template next time I load it up.

Thanks for the info though!

Hi darkenedsoul,

maybe it is a bit confusing when you expect a behavior that other applications may have.
In Live you can never have no document loaded. When you make new Live loads its default song (2 Audio tracks, 2 MIDI tracks, ....).
Same when you close any document. maybe that is the point confusing you.
If you want to have your own template you create it and then set it up as default template in Live's preferences.

But you can not have a totally empty document. The smallest Live document contains at least one track (MIDI or Audio) and one scene.

regards,
Alex

Hi Alex!

I wemt with what someone else had already posted, open up a default template and save it in preferences. Did that last night and now it does what I wanted it/expected it to do. I just find it odd that I have to save that as a default template vs using initial one. At least that nussance is not bothering me now! Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind down the road.
