Audio to MIDI: triggering clips by audio signal?

Post by markedman » Fri Jan 02, 2009 12:59 pm

Is it possible to convert audio to MIDI signals in Live? Or are there plugins which would make this possible?

What I'm looking to build is triggering of Live clips via external audio, which can be for example a simple drum (gate hits above threshold --> midi trigger). The incoming audio does not need to be analyzed in any way, if I can get a single mapping of the incoming audio to "play next scene" I'd be happy.

I'm running on Mac platform. The only thing I've been able to find is the KTDrumTrigger, but that's not available for Intel Macs.. that would have done the trick probably.

Any ideas?

Thanks

...just to clarify the problem: this needs to be done in real-time, I'm not looking for external "convert audio to midi" programs.

If you own max/MSP I think that's what [fiddle~] is for.
MacBook Pro 13" Retina i7 2.8 GHz OS 10.13, L10.0.1, M4L.
MacStudio M1Max 32Go OS 12.3.1

well. i got a friend of mine to write me an audio to midi plug to do things like that: http://www.idmforums.com/showthread.php?t=13889

works pretty good,. just remember to turn playback off/turn the device off if you want to map something heh.

I was told KTDrummtrigger doesn't work with Live. I can't recall why
but I have the plugin on PC and I've never been able to get it work.
It simply ignores the audio or something

sorry to dig up this thread, but could anyone else confirm that KTdrumtrigger is working in Live on an Intel Mac?

or if not, does any have a different plug / solution (aside from Max/fiddle/M4L) thanks
