Trigger Video Clips with Midi
Trigger Video Clips with Midi
Is there a way for me to trigger video clips in Live and project them onto a screen during live performance via midi?

could work - check out grand VJ software - you can re-wire live to it to control everything via midi

Re: Trigger Video Clips with Midi
Put your clips on a track/-s in arrange view>set markers at start points> assign midi to those markers. For anything more you need VJ software, run via rewire or midi. There will be probably coming some video solutions in Max4LiveGreefy wrote:Is there a way for me to trigger video clips in Live and project them onto a screen during live performance via midi?

Does Max4Live do this yet? Trigger video via Midi?
I want to use Max to play backing tracks on my MBP, change vocal patches on my VoiceLive 3, trigger lighting changes, and I want it to trigger video clips. I'm currently using ShowBuddy from Enttec. It does all of the above except for the video clip triggering. The alternative is to use a second piece of software to "receive" a MIDI or DMX signal to play the video clips, but I was hoping for a single software solution.

Hi,
This video tool for Ableton is great.
You can trigger live video samples with midi. There is also a video sampler witch will allow you to play with your video samples on you keyboard.
Check it out!

Re: Trigger Video Clips with Midi
Our live band (Oolluu) has surface pro laptop that runs backing tracks. One midi channel is dedicated to sending midi data to the projection computer via a USB midisport 1 x 1.
The projection computer is a macbook pro running ableton. We put the videos on the arrangement page and use markers assigned to midi notes to trigger the clips.
This computer displays the videos on the projector via the thunderbolt connection.
It works well with barely any latency.
The main problem is the music computer, projection computer and the projector itself need to be connected with cables, and sometimes the projector is a long way from the stage, making this setup impossible at some venues.
