Post by billphreets » Wed Jan 20, 2010 11:24 am

hi ppl..

in ableton 8 , when i drag one of the `grooves` (.agr files) into a midi channel i get `midi to` no output as default.. master out isnt an option, what am i doing wrong here?? the meters are showing a signal ! none of teh available options give me any sound.. this must be something simple im missing.... if i drag a vsti into a midi channel i get `midi to` master out as default no problem..
what am i doing wrong??

Might have misunderstood here, but you don't 'play' grooves in that sense, the grooves are applied to clips.

Put an instrument in the midi channel, draw some notes in a clip and set the clip playing. Then drag the groove into the clip, or use the grooves selector in clip view to apply a groove from the groove pool.

swing citeh!

A groove is not music and does not produce sound. It just changes the quantization of a beat you have already made to suit certain styles of music.
