here here for the white ones being shite!!

they wont stay in my head, i dont know about anyone else , but when i see ipod bud wearers they seem to be walkin like they are balancin books on their head.. and then theres me pounding it down the treadmill and my new ones don't budge.

ive now got a pair of wrap around your head and stick straight in your ear-buds

plus where i used to live (manchester UK) they would stick out your ear screaming " OI ! fancy an ipod? just kick the shit out of me and you can have it mate"
there used to be a well cheesy "sig." here

I've had a 20 gig ipod since November of 2003 and I love it also. It gets quite a lot of use between listening to music and transporting large files back and forth from school. I also wish it could record decent sound. That would just be incredible!

My earbuds wore out after about a year of heavy use and I replaced them with black sony earbuds. They were cheaper and sound just as good as the apples.

Also, as more and more people on the mean streets of Baltimore realize that white ear buds = $400.00 walkman, well.... I have less of a chance of getting robbed.

Another thing, at first I thought it was kind of lame that Apple charges $100 to replace the battery but it really isn't so bad. When you send it in for battey replacement they send you a new ipod. After a year and four months of heavy use it is holding about 60% of its charge so soon it will be eligible for replacement. So it will go from white/tobacco yellow back to futuristic white.

Also, after being accidentally dropped twice onto concrete and once completely soaked, along with me, after being caught in a torrential downpour with no shelter, well.... it still works fine.

Plus it works with the iTunes Music Store... if you live in the right country, that is.

I got a FREE 15 gig iPod for signing on with a local high speed internet service provider here. To be honest I wasn't all that syked at first but I really have become attatched to the damn thing.

I have a pretty vast cd collection and it's great to be able to take a good chunk of it everywhere I go. Plus I can hook it up to two channels of my mixer and have instant reference to hundreds of classic tracks through my recording rig.

I can't hang with those ear buds though. I wish I could because they are so portable but they fall out or move around and generally sound like poop.

I only recently joined the party, so I'm still sporting the white Apple buds. I'll definitely be looking for some proper smallish headphones.

Any recommendations on a car adapter?

I have to say that I'm listening to so much more music now, just the convenience factor, and getting to parts of my cd collection that haven't seen the light of day in years.

Edit: As I'm listening now... I haven't put a lot of classical on the iPod, but Satie's gymnopédies are so beautiful (to me). Quite short pieces of solo piano that are melodically unusual, melancholy and often unbelievably down tempo.

Meh, I don't like the Ipods, I don't find them attractive, and for the price you can get bigger, cuter, and more horny players.

MUCH more attractive in my opinion, and only £245 for 40GB. A 40GB ShitePod would cost me £280

Seriously? I'm finding that thing quite clunky and ugly looking, in sort of a retro-borg way.

Oh well, to each their own.

we, borg, don't care for iPod (which are butt ugly) or any other mp3 player!
we prefer using our old minidisk (and dat at work) until they die,
and in the meanwhile spend our money on new computers and legal software.

we wish to be left out of this conversation...

ipods are great, because they are designed to do one thing and do it well; playing music. it's not a phone, it doesn't have a radio, it can't really record or do too much else. it's just made to play music. i think devices that do one thing and do it well are underrated. plus the ui is wonderfully simple, anyone can pick up an ipod and within a few seconds navigate around... and itunes is without a doubt the best music librarian available today. god, i'm such a fanboy.

by the way what's all this talk about ipods going from white to brown? i've never seen this, even on the first generation models that are still floating around. i've seen some scratched-to-hell ipods, and i've seen dirty ipods, but i've never seen an ipod that wouldn't go back to it's original white without a little wipedown.
