Assigning a clip-launch-button to a clip (APC)

Post by Rabalder » Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:01 pm

If you assign a clip-launch-button(APC) to a spesific clip, it stops beeing yellow.. Its dead and only turns green when you play the clip..
Whats the point of this??
Is the "yellow/green-function" only possible when its automapped?? 8O

Really??
Really??????

sure.. its a modern product ..
Buy mfl and you can do with it what you want.. just 3 month learning curve and another day to assign your clip in a colourfull fashion...
but.. you can have the individual assigned, and so locked, clips blinking all the time than..to indicate its locked status..

isnt this great?

Can anyone imagine what would have happened if ableton wouldnt have gone down theese MFL road?
beside that L8 would be crashfree allready...

they probably wouldnt have released such a poor control surface plug for the apc..
the only reason the whole implementation is so retarded is not because the abes dont know what would suit live situations.. or that they are not smart...

Its to leave room for own creations on mfl..

Its pretty much the same dirty trick that made Emagic years ago to leave the key assignments to the user..
instead developing an own set of keycommands..what is a serious design quest..
That had leaded in the late 90s to a situation where you wasnt able to operate another studio without your personal setup disk anymore..

however.. an error is only an mistake when its not corrected...
maybe they update theire controler support without forcing the users to run max in the background...
the actual performance of life indicates that this is nothing you really want to try on stage...

I actually like it..
Just have to paint it, rewire the leds inside, change some buttons, assign everything and there we go.

you might like to check the bomes miditranslator patches from native control...
i recomend to get them or learn the bomes miditranslator yourself..

its less cpu hungry than max for live and allows to addapt the apc also for other daw´s..

btw..other daw´s i cant understand why ableton havent allowed theier dedicated controlers to work in rewire mode
.. can´t be so difficult..

the main reason i sold my apc..

its good designed hardware but the software support is such a mess..

please lord send a genius to design our daw´s.. no more half baked crap
