Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
How to get Live to not use/install rewire on launch?
I remember years ago doing this, but I can't remember how and am not sure if it's changed on 8 or not. I want to run Logic and Live without rewire. I know I can start Live first, but I'd like to know how to remove rewire on OSX.
I already renamed the rewire bundle to something else and write protected the folder... Live gives an error but still starts in slave mode.
I explored the Live.app package and renamed the rewire bundle in there... Live says it's not installed properly but still loads in slave mode.
running out of ideas!

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
Hrmm short lived happiness... No worky.
Have created a plaintext file in the same folder as the pref.cfg file with one line:
-ReWireSlaveOff
capitalization is right for the filename and the rewire command... Live still loads as slave. Also tried -ReWireSlaveOff=1 to no avail.
Anyone done this successfully? Abes give an example on turning off RewireMaster, but not slave.

" ReWireSlaveOff " <--- as quoted in the other thread. ummm... try the space before the R??
Maybe it got "improved"...
Or here's a really old list... I'm sure you could feck up a few things with this!! Perhaps try some of the Rewire options (no responsibility accepted )

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
Yeah I'm having the exact same problem. Live's Log acknowledges that the ReWireSlaveOff but it still runs in Slave mode anyway.
Any fixes????
Live 8.0.9
Incidentally, Live 8.1 does work with ReWireSlaveOff, but I can't use it since it crashes on my project file.

It works for you in 8.1.1? I see it in the log file on load, but it still always loads as slave...
I'm on 10.6.2, are you on windows?

Just curious - why would you not want to run rewire ?

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
I'm using VST's in Live that generate and send out midi to Logic's synths... can't do that when rewiring.

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
Sometimes when I'm working in Logic I'll need to quickly chop something up, timestretch a sample, or try different arrangements of a logic render in Live. I don't want Live to be a slave in that scenario.

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
Anyone get this figured out? I'm trying to MTC Live with Cubase so I can sync them and still use VST's in Live..something you can't do with rewire...

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
I guess it comes down to just booting Live first, if you don't want to invoke Rewire. No problem doing that. Or am I missing something you guys want?

Re: Stop Live from installing Rewire on Launch
The issue is that the option that -should- disable rewire slave doesn't work in the most recent versions of Live. If I change the name of it to Rewireslaveblahbalbh I get an error when Live loads. However, when it's named properly in the options.txt, Live loads without error, but just doesn't use the flag.
