As far as construction goes, I don't have much advise other than to make sure it's quiet in the room.
hey sam - wasss up man ?
yeah - the quiet factor - been thinking about that - can get some strong winds sweeping through the mountains in the north

You may need a climate control system that doesn't introduce noise to the room. It can be tricky if you need to have a lot of sound isolation stuff installed. The air can get stuffy. Plus you'll want extra electrical sockets in the room so the clients can plug in a bunch of stuff.
yeah - this has come to mind

), but I can't imagine bringing my studio monitors and subwoofer too. So I would say that having good monitors in the room is a must. Make it so the clients can bring their own, but not so they have to. A pair of Genelec 8030 and a 7050B subwoofer would be good to have. Also a monitor switching thing like the PreSonus Central Station and a pair of Yamaha NS-10s would be key too. Then you'd have a pretty "industry standard" monitoring system installed, and you could build and tune the room around it.
thanks for this advice too - to be honest this has started cos me and eythor keep going on about having a place to work - well -a couple of them in different countries so we can travel and then when we wanna work somewhere we have a couple of options ... we both went to japan in 2009 and would love one there .. oh my god .. japanese girls are just ..grrrrrrrr... anyways ..
so - at the moment we have been thinking that it would be a modest set up to start with - mainly aimed at us using it and also friends within iceland (plus george's sons are just setting up a performance circus project and are just getting into abe) - to offer at as a place for foreign visitors to come would be nice but we re not promising this will be a state of the art studio where you will be able to finalize projects... well maybe one day .. but as a first project we are looking at it to be good as possible but keeping it modest
so - we will probably arrange tracks there - use the environment as a source of inspiration and focus and use it as a place to put ideas down - but will still have to go into the studio in reykjavik to finish stuff
i cant see us affording to put genelec speakers in there - most icelanders making music have their own equipment - but if you are a foreigner wanting to come and be out in the nature and put down ideas for tracks then it would be suitable for that with adequate equipment
that is the vision at the moment
anyways - take care man - probably wont make it to NY this year
