Could someone please explain the Pluggo Chamberverb?

Post by maxforlive » Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:40 pm

Hi,

This is one of the least complicated devices that comes bundled with M4l.
I was hoping to understand it good enough to be able to build my own reverb patch based on the same principles without looking at/recreating/duplicating the Pluggo Chamberverb.

Thanks for your time :)

There's some good general reverb info here:
http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Articles/Reverb/

Basically, it's a bunch of allpass filters with feedback, used to create small delays. Some of the filters are modulated by an LFO. The allpasspunch~ subpatch is interesting to look at. There are low pass filters at the end to keep the signal from being too bright.

This reverb is based on the work of Hal Chamberlin (yeah - the guy at Kurzweil), and described in detail in his book "Musical Applications of Microprocessors" (Sams published it, I believe). I'm fairly sure you can lay your hands on it used/through a library, etc.
