While trying to punch-in to a midi track using the punch-in switch, I get a very strange symptom. The notes I am recording don't appear for a couple of bars, and when playing back what I just recorded, the notes are all offset (out of sync) by the same amount, i.e. a couple of bars although this amount seems arbitrary. I can subsequently move them into sync, but obviously this is not ideal. This behavior is completely baffling. Most things in Live are so intuitive but this just seems crazy! Strangely I can't find any discussion of this anywhere. Anyone?
thanks in advance,

p.s. It also seems that when using the punch-in switch, the count in feature becomes disabled. Am I right?
strange punch-in behavior
Re: strange punch-in behavior
it is possible to get some really bizarre behaviors when using the punch in, but it doesn't sound like you're doing anything unusual.

Re: strange punch-in behavior
Turns out it was a documented bug going back to version 8.0.2. A pretty spectacular bug I'd say. The ability to reliably set a punch-in location on a track is something I'd expect from even the most basic sequencer or DAW. Live is a really amazing and well designed piece of software so I'm even more surprised Ableton let this one get through the cracks. Oh well, I'm glad it's been resolved.
