^ it's shit like this that makes me hate macs even more. his laptop is more powerful than any macbook or macbook pro offered right now!
and the fucking question wasn't about computers, you ass... it was about an audio interface that works better than his m-audio keyboard's built-in interface.

and because i love to rub salt into the wound (yeah, i really do!) when do you guys start to realise that it is not about the horsepower alone,McQ714 wrote:^ it's shit like this that makes me hate macs even more. his laptop is more powerful than any macbook or macbook pro offered right now!
we give a total shit how fast your newest super duper computer is (or about results of that utter useless Live performance test that is around here), we like a computer system that works with audio components / in an audio context all around well, without being a IT genius.
and i worked long enough with PC vs Mac audio systems (that is computers purely dedicated / used for audio) to know why i say that.
and now i *run and hide*, not because i said something wrong... but because i don't want to discuss anything with you after my statement!
and before anyone reacts to this statement, read properly!!! before... it is NOT about a Mac vs PC argument, it is purely about that the speed performance is not the only parameter that is important for a quality / working computer system.
but i *run and hide* anyway

I just hate when somebody comes on and says.. "oh my mac/pc dosnt work with *device name* etc" to which somebody else says. oh you should have got a mac/pc.
"oh i bought a ford but the tire busted."
"ah you should have bought a merc"
please..

dont buy motu products on windows - great soundcards, but they really do work best on macs. rme is prob a safer option.

fair enough... that with the speed as the only important parameter of a computer was aimed towards both!funky shit wrote:I just hate when somebody comes on and says.. "oh my mac/pc dosnt work with *device name* etc" to which somebody else says. oh you should have got a mac/pc.

to the OP:
go with RME... whether you choose the Multiface 2 and express card, or the Fireface 400 or the Fireface UC. those will be more than enough!
To SubFunk:
i know a fast processor is not the only important thing in a computer but the fact is that everything that Macs were 3 years ago and PCs/windows were not just doesn't apply anymore. Windows 7 is just as stable as OS X, if not more so, judging by the threads i've read on here and various other websites. i could really care less about AU plugins. VSTs work great and will continue to dominate the market. and ASIO audio drivers are still industry standards. thanks go to steinberg for those 2 technologies. Apple did away with too many of the things that made Macs better for audio in the last few years that made it the industry standard to begin with.

*leaves carefully hiding place*...
let's leave it at that. peace.

Eh? I was considering a MOTU in my next planned upgraderobleighton22 wrote:dont buy motu products on windows - great soundcards, but they really do work best on macs. rme is prob a safer option.
Is this a widely held view and does it apply to PCI cards as well?
Think I'll reconsider and get RME

we had a lot of trouble with motu under windows, none ever under osx...night shift wrote:Eh? I was considering a MOTU in my next planned upgraderobleighton22 wrote:dont buy motu products on windows - great soundcards, but they really do work best on macs. rme is prob a safer option.

for windows, go RME, for sure (that actually applies to osx as well, if you can afford RME, go RME)
