Re: Akai APC 40: Has it delivered?
I love mine. I love the rotaries. I love the faders. I dig the transport control. I love the grid, but I'm finding that I use the non-grid stuff on it (faders, knobs, etc.) a lot more than I use the grid. So I don't mind that the Launchpad was announced two weeks after my APC40 finally arrived. I'm really glad I have it!
Wishes... I wish it was a little more compact (I don't need the spaceship wings on the sides). I'm having to really think hard about how I'm going to transport it, and a table/surface to put it on (in addition to my laptop, keyboard, and interface). If it was a wee bit smaller it would be easier to envision. I really wish it had a TAB button to go from Session to Arrange (please tell me it does and I've missed it like an idiot this whole time...)

Re: Akai APC 40: Has it delivered?
great unit hardware-wise; had a couple of great jams on it, still struggling to adapt my sets to it, in the long run may have to use M4L to get what I want in terms of set/track organization. I am used to mapping buttons independently of where they are in the matrix.. far easier than re-organizing the whole session view to fit in some 8x5 grid where I have everything that I want close by. I'll see in the long run if I like it but that I knew in advance

Re: Akai APC 40: Has it delivered?
Having now Auditioned one an finally deciding what I am doing with my studio set up for good i will be pleased to get one.
So in two months time I will have Live 8 Suite, Max 4 Live, Reason 4 and no third party VSTi's or AU's.
My Fusion 8HD is staying put but the Prophecy and WSA1 will be sold.
So above my Fusion 8HD will be an APC40, Launchpad and my MPD32 with the iMac too the left of me.
The only things I'll add now are a new bass guitar and an EWi USB and a couple of decent Microphones.
The laptop with Reaktor will be sold also.
Guess I needed a break from LIve to realize how much I preferred working with it.
So it will be good to be back in the fold as it where and be as hands on as any hardware studio set up I've used.

Somewhere between a rock and a hard place is actually nowhere.

Use it strictly in the studio, but I LOVE mine ~ it's really sped up my Live workflow!
