I agree with this post.

My wishes are:
It should also relate to 440hz being middle A. - http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=124722
and similar to this thread - http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=121151

I think this is a great idea myself. I've been looking for something like this ever since I saw the one Logic uses. For me it could easily become a "can't live without' tool. Definitely +1 on this!

Almost all my tracks end with EQ8 followed by Spectrum. It would be great to combine them together.

what would be really great is if you could assign different-colored eq spectrum displays from separate incoming tracks/busses, so you could monitor the different spectrums and draw out the eq curves of different tracks in relation to each other all within the eq display.

Some more requests for EQ8 from the Big request topic!

1. Set slopes 4 cut-offs (12/24/38/etc)

2a. Integrated spectrum with on/off button (requested by IP)

Image

2b. a spectrum read/match feature for the EQ to copy frequency spectrums also to the first page (requested by loachm)

3. Better EQ algorithm (requested by dna598)

4a. minus values for "Scale" [this will invert all values +=- & -=+] (Requested by IP)
4b. match eq on eq 8 - for example, if you plotted an eq scale for boosting on a track then you can invert the exact scale and place the eq on a different track where you need to cut frequencies to make the 2 tracks sit together well. (Requested by buzby)

5. Make the EQ frequency settings stay the same in relation to one another even if you turn them all up to 20Khz and back down again with a MIDI controller. You will be able to make the EQ Eight into a workable filter sweep effect for DJing by assigning each frequency to the same midi controller, you can use that to sweep all of them at once. Right now it does not work in this way because they all get smashed together when you sweep them all and some of the individual filters hit 20Khz (requested by aubford)

6. Linear Phase Mode! (Requested by 789lwnm2)

7. Maximizing EQ's 8 window like in Spectrum for better control. (Requested by knur_wesoly)

I would also love to see the eq 8 and the spectrum analyzer put together (like in Logic).

A great addition would be to be able to superimpose/overlay the eq analysis curve from another channel. Like in Voxego Gliss eq.

You could then put the eq 8/spectrum Analyzer on the bass and overlay the eq line from the kick and take out the unwanted frqs.

Lets go Ableton!!!!

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly that a spectrum analyser in the EQ would be great.

I am absolutely loving the idea of sidechaining the spectrum analyser from other channels though.

That would be a tool truly worthy of Ableton Live's workflow.

I'm hoping for a reaction from the Ableton crew on this.
Because this is the reason why I use the Pro-Q from Fabfilter instead of EQ-8 and the Analyser tool.

Could it be any simpler? Just merge the 2 together. Nothing new has to be invented!
Or would it be possible with Max For Live ??

Yeah, I agree. Most impprtant for me would be spectrum inside the EQ and different slopes. At least for th ecutting filters. I massivly use the EQ8, and an option to switch to linear phase would be nice.

not too much into this a i am using 3rd party eq with this feature, but what i desperately need is better mixing summing algorhithm, as mixing 20tracks can sound really different in different DAWs.

i think this would be a nice addition, requires a button for switching the analyser on and off as required, also adjustable slope cuts would be great.

Very good that you don't want it but start your own thread for what you want, rather than crashing this one!

yes - I agree those features would make the Ableton eq truly powerful, but the feature I want the most is to have the spectrum analyser with the eq and then be able to super impose the eq curve from another channel over your existing channels eq curve so you can see the eqs working at once. This is great for when you have sounds battling for the same frequencies and you need to make room for one of them. Ableton - take a look at Voxego Gliss eq.
