It's not magic, it's more like a card trick: Apple continues to fool people into thinking they've invented something new and something they need. It's just a touch screen damn it, not a cure for cancer!LoopStationZebra wrote:Can you put a price on genius?

I think not.
Today is the day APPLE changes the world. Again.

Pretty cool, may buy one if someone out there makes it into some kind of synth or midi controller.

There is already an app.
I must admit for the price this is difficult to ignore.

You really have an incredibly vivid and active imagination Loop. Why would companies with over %90 market share weep about anything?
iPad looks decent, if there are good deals for content, ill probably get one. I do most of my morning web and newspaper reading on a tablet pc now. (you know one of those HP ones that have been around for about 10 years, curiously I dont remember having a mac option to choose from, they must be too ahead of their time) so something lighter and thinner will hit the spot.
If i can jailbreak all the stupid restrictions apple will put on it, then its a good deal for the announced price. Its certainly the best interface for a tablet ive seen so far.

I only said that because HP and Microsoft were hawking some pad device or another at this year's CES were they not?
Did they ever even release an image? They got about 1/2 second of press. Why? Because it will suck ass, that's why.
lol

same with Rave, that's a lie. the default apps for the iPad are the usually calendar, youtube, type of stuff.

Wait. Links for the HP/Microsoft tablet or proof that it will suck ass?
And I'm confused on the apps thing. There's a zillion iPhone synth and controller apps already. ?

There are a lot of controls apps out there, but the small screen of the iPhone makes them pretty annoying to use...also the iPhone has no USB out so you have to set up a wireless network...also annoying...

This actually makes Apple the last computer maker to bring a touchscreen tablet to market. Its nicer in form, but it is iterative, not revolutionary.LoopStationZebra wrote:I only said that because HP and Microsoft were hawking some pad device or another at this year's CES were they not?

lol
The main thing im hoping for is that they can use their leverage with the media publishers to make a workable and cheap version of itunes, but for newspapers and magazines. I would be very happy to never buy another paper magazine or newspaper ever, and this is the first step in that direction. There are about 8 other tablets coming out this year, and they will all run on basically the same hardware, so there should be real competition in content delivery, cant wait.

I thought it was a given that this would support wireless USB? The first such devices should be coming to market by the middle of this year.marcoskohler wrote:LoopStationZebra wrote:Wait. Links for the HP/Microsoft tablet or proof that it will suck ass?

Oh I don't know...I'm referring to how the iPhone as a control application for MIDI/OSC is not an ideal solution...the iPad should be much better if some developer can do a Lemur clone with many more features/customization. The iPad does have a USB dongle.adventurepants_ wrote:I thought it was a given that this would support wireless USB? "The USB and SD adapters are billed as the "Camera Connection Kit," which may mean they're sold together and may also mean their features are limited to importing photos and videos"
