WARPING HELP!! LIVE 8

Post by Dargelos » Thu Jan 28, 2010 7:10 pm

hi i've been trying to warp songs for a dj set next weekend and i just cant seem to warp an entire song , i've watched a lot of tutorials on youtube and they are all different and ive tried a lot of them, some work with some songs but not all, the tutorials deal with really simple techno so the beat its pretty steady and cleared, not alot going on, im trying to mix Surkin, Proxy, D.I.M, Mr.Oizo, Curses!, etc. i guess the technics ive watched on youtube for warping dont seem to work for that kind of electro. HELP!!!

To get a head start:-

play the song in the browser (un-warped, RAW) - tap the tempo - drop the song into Live - find the first downbeat of the song- right click and 'set (1)one here' - right click again and warp (at the song's BPM) from there.

I've found that as long as you tap the beat correctly its not far off, may just need to nudge a few markers here and there.

..Or buy re-warped tracks from 3beat.

Glad you got it going. One thing I do that also works rather will is I set 1.1 on the first down beat, and with the metronome off, I play for four measures and note where it should be and drag the downbeat for the 4th measure to where it should be on the timeline. DO NOT CREAT A WARP MARKER, just drag it. Then I listen with the metronome further down and line up the downbeats listening.

As always, do whatever works best for you.
