HI, I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to chop samples in ableton besides the "slice to midi" which actually puts the sample out of sync since it's not warped the same, I thought they'd fix this with the new version. chopping with the mouse by seperating the warps is not as fun...I was told that you are able to chop with sampler, but that doesn't go to the rhythm. I used to use recycle and am thinking of going back to it possibly because of this problem. I appreciate your guys response to this, your input is valuable to me and I'm sure a lot of others.
Peace

Re: new way to chop samples
slice to midi by warp markers just uses the markers as the slice points. so it's not that it isn't warped the same.. it isn't warped at all. just place the markers where you want to slice.
for that, you just have to keep it in mind that the markers you are placing are not going to have anything to do with how it sounds before using the slice command
or, if you want to warp a sample and then slice it 'according to the warp" then consolidate after you're satisfied with the markers, and slice the resulting clip by 1/8ths, 1/16ths etc.
