Latency occuring halfway thru a live set?

I'm running an ableton set that has a line in running thru it for a live guitar. No fx are being used on the this channel, as it is pre-processed via outboard gear. I'm essentially running it through so that I can occassioally gate my gtr to drum tracks.

Halfway thru my set (20-30 min), I start getting latency
with my guitar. If I restart my set, the latency goes away.
My buffer size is 512. I'm hesitant to lower it since it's a hefty DJ set.
Any ideas?
