Because they got sick of retards calling them who didn't know the first thing about setting up their equipment, downloading the proper drives, and - first and foremost - were utterly incapable of reading the fucking manual. Or, um, visiting any one of 86,000 forums where the answers inevitably are waiting. :P

Have you tried to contact them with a problem ?.

I'm sure you're right on many levels, but I know people who are not retards who have had to wait for weeks to get a response from this company.

The answers were not on unicornation or anywhere else.

I need some advice, can't decide what to choose Apogee Duet or SAFFIRE PRO 24 DSP
I think the saffire got more options, but I just want quality.. just need it for recording guitars / vocals.
(I've got macbookpro)

i'm going to buy a Duet, but i was wondering: it hasn't got a powersupply. Do you guys leave it plugged in all the time, even when your computer is off?

Should be fine, my presonus card is since about 4 years on, day and night.
any good designed audio gear needs to handle that, OK the duet is a consumer card, but apogee does make serious equipment, and it is a studio and broadcast requirement that audio gear needs to be able to be 24hrs a day in use. so don't worry about it.

Besides the power on a 6pin firewire connex is interupted when you put the comp to sleep and of course when you switch him off.

I have a TC Electronic Konnekt 6. It sounds really good - for what its worth. I definitely will be seriously considering their higher end models when I upgrade. I had an Alesis MultiMix 8 that was driving me crazy with noise and shit Pre-amps so I need to upgrade at a reasonable price. Worth looking into as they do play nice with Windows.
