Well i made a new template set today and now when i load ANY set including just starting live, there is a about an inch or more off the side of the session view that is just black, right where the device window should be!!
there used to be a well cheesy "sig." here

click the arrow at the top of the black bar, just under the "Tap" button.

ok... i see what it is. you have more tracks than can fit in the session view at once. since the session view will only display full tracks (as you scroll, you'll never see just half of a track), it displays as many full tracks as it can. if you resize your window, or remove some tracks you'll see that this bar changes sizes to accomidate the leftover space. it's not a bug. if it bothers you, just change the window sizea bit and it will go away, or just leave your device window open.

if this is what you meant, than the above explanation is correct, which is why it changed when you resized the window.
