Hi Mate,

Nice story about your switch. Finally someone that says the truth.
NO discussion about vinyl is the real thing blabla.
It's the age of transitions ( LIVE } not of repetitions;)
I'm no dj myself. I'm into music production for about 11 years .
I do a lot of minimal, click, house, jazz, ambient, detroit, drum n bass.
I use live mainly as a tool for production but i also would like to get on stage with it.
So my production experience will help me a lot to make live sounds the way you want. It doesn't take skills to press buttons.
it does take skill to make it sound PHAT.

so my advice to you. Get a steady system. Sound systems can crash. But computers too.
first , get a stable system for live.
second. Get a good soundcard. The way live sounds has everything to do with the converter quality.
third: you already know. Get a good controller. One that feels nice.
Lot of plastic stuff around there. Bitstream has a new nice controller.

You can also still use an analog dj mixer.

I see guys playing mp3's with a internal soundcard.
Well compared to a vinyl set . That's about 10 %. And yes they are getting booooo from the audience. Why is everybody using mp3's. So they can use their downloaded stuff? Well i think it sounds crap.
Harddisks are fast enough to play 44.1 24 bit. But i know you already know;)

Good luck with your journey into the next digital era. Learn production skills, you're gonna need it in this world:)

peace.

Paul

I just re-mapped the "activator" "solo/cue" "recarm" as eq kill switches for "high" "med" and "low" across all eight channels on the apc40.

works great when playing out with! :D

though, when I shut down at the end of the night, the LED's dont turn off.

anyone else notice this?

Anyone else notice that Paul was responding to a post made over 2 years ago? Hopefully the dude has figured out his problem.

No mp3s , yet ;)
live imports mp3's just fine. what are you guys talking about? just drag your mp3 into a clip slot.

It didn't when the question was asked. Perhaps look at the date? ;)

I have been DJing with Live for about 5 years in NYC. There is definitely a noticeable loss in sound quality when DJing with Live when you listen through a sound system at a really nice club. To compare, play a track directly from itunes and compare that with the same tack played through Live (I use the pitch shift setting). You will hear much more clarity and punchiness from the original track played through iTunes. It just sounds clearer and more focused.

Wow. More necrobumping on this thread and another user who's discovered Live's inferior sound engine!

Today is awesome!

Live has an inferior sound engine? Why haven't you told me before? So basically, I've been spending a bunch of years thinking I have absolutely no musical talent, and that everything I create sounds, and forever will sound, like crap - and it's ALL BECAUSE OF LIVE'S INFERIOR SOUND ENGINE?

:x :x :x
