how to set up for dj cueing.

Post by joneblaze » Tue Feb 02, 2010 8:42 pm

ok guys, i have the apc 40, and its hooked up to m-audio fast track pro, which has dj cueing ability. I am using my mac book pro. I am having trouble figuring out the proper setting within ableton live 8 i think to be able to monitor the the song i want to come in through my head phones before the crowd hears. i set song on (track)deck 1 to A, and (track)deck 2 to B my crossfader on the apc 40 does go from the first song to the second song. How can i set it up so that i can listen to the song i want to come in before the crowd hears it. I have went into live preferences and tried some different audio configurations, but i cant figure it out. Thanks for any help.

so right now you have 1/2 enabled as outputs that map to your main out on the sound card.

you want to enable 3/4 which maps to the other outputs on your sound card.

options - preferences - audio - input configure.

then under the CUE knob on the Live GUI set the CUE output to 3/4. right now it's set to 1/2, the same as your main output. note that you can do this with ANY output, IOW you can send a single track's output to 3/4 instead of Master.

the numbers for the ports I used might vary on your setup.
