EEEK, URGENT why am I having this problem?!?!?!?

Post by Schmidi » Thu Mar 24, 2005 12:28 am

Hello, this is urgent because I have a gig tonight and wanted to burn some mix cds for the crowd. Except now the mix is F'd up?!?!

My friend and I recorded a mix today but now the different tracks are totally out of sync.

He was on track one as the line in source in Live (turntables). I was audio tracks 2 & 3 triggering samples off of my comp while recording the whole mix.

So finished product has all of the set recorded including automation of fx, but our audio tracks are not in sync with eachother like when we mixed it?!?!

What do I need to to now, or at least in the future so this doesnt happen?

Live 4.01, firewire 410 setup.

Thank you for replying.

Good idea but it didnt solve the problem. did change the sound a little though.

I am worried I recorded this in a shitty way. I simply armed his incoming track to monitor it thru, set up my tracks with fx and hit record on the top.

In the end I dont have one solid track with my stuff, just his stereo track and a ton of fired clips in arranger view.

How should I record things like this in the future????

should I make an audio track and route my clips into that? Tha way Id have 2 stereo tracks instead of a mess?

Is there a way to turn off warping on the stereo clip?

So let me get this straight:
When you look in arrangement view you have a nice long stereo audio "clip" recorded from the turntables, plus a bunch of clips of stuff you fired off within session view while recording? So you'll be selecting everything and hitting render to get your final mix, right? But when you play back in arrangement view it doesn't sound like it did while monitoring?
Idea about tempo changes: go hit the triangle next to Master in arrangement view and check out the tempo automations that you recorded. Can you manually adjust them?
Good luck!

David_T: your description is dead on about what I recorded.
I dont have the patience to redo all the tempo automation so we'll just have to record it over sometime, oh well.

SOOOO, How would you guys record this so that I just have 2 stereo tracks after mixing?

Obviously I could record to another device, but I'm sure this can all be done internally.

Im still puzzled as to why its not in sync in the first place.

Oh well, Im still gonna play a kick ass set tonight!!!!

Could it be latency related?

Maybe all you have to do is sync up the first beat....

OK, I finally managed to nudge the turntable track back a 1/4 beat or so and they line up....

Now the real fun, everything is got recorded has warp turned on. the turntable track's warp can be turned off easily, but my sample clips (100's) are all warped.

Is there any way to tell Live NOT to auto turn warp on for what you record into it?
