MSI M510c

Post by peter finger » Thu Mar 24, 2005 6:32 am

Hey everyone,

Does anyone here use a MSI M510c.?
I just bought one ( as i mentioned in a previous post) and Im having difficulty getting it running smoothly.

Ive conducted the ableton test and its ranging between 30% - 60% cpu...
Its doing my head in.

Its..
1.8 intel centrino(speed step)
1gig ram
ati radeon 9600 64mg
80g 5400 drive.

I ask..

Does speedstep create any problems?
are there certain chipsets from the centrino family you shouldnt touch?

If there are any links, forums or anything you can point me to that would be GREAT!!

cheers :)

Hi Peter.
What manufacturer is the lappy from again ?

May I suggest

http://blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

As your first port of call - it's a pretty thorough system overhaul .

And yes speed step will affect CPU use if NOT configured properly as will screen resolution etc etc ....
Much like Powersaving on Mac PB's if set to auto etc etc...

1.8ghz Dothan/Centrino w/2meg Cache and 1 meg ram should be in the 21-25% ballpark for Adam's Live test easily so something isn't right system wise I would guess.

Also what sound card / drivers etc are you using mate ?
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

It was a barebones unit which the place built.

Its not a Dothan.. I think.

Ill check out that link though. As i said before, i am an ametuer with this stuff.

Cheers.
