Arrange view from scenes

Post by Inaki » Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:08 am

I'm going Ableton nuts here and trying to do stuff I have no clue how to do!

If I'm not mistaken, I should be able to build a drum sequence in the scene view, drag it to the Arrangement view and then duplicate it throughout the song right? I just tried doing that and if I screw around with the pattern in the Arrangement view and press Play I still get the original sequence. If I delete it from the Scene view..I get nothing. I'm clearly missing something.

So I did a basic sequence, and wanted to modify it for the intro and break...but all i got was either the initial beat...or nothing at all.

Any ideas? I know its hard for me to explain what I'm trying to do.

Make sure the "Back to Arrangement" button isn't highlighted in red. If it's red, that means something is playing in session view and overriding whatever is on the same track in the arrange view. Just click on the button (it's the one with 3 horizontal lines, located in the transport panel) and it will allow you to hear whatever you've done in arrangement view. Does that make sense?

Oh yeah. I was assuming that was a sort of global "arm" button. Good one! Thanks.

I know I know...the manual.
