unable to share midi keyboard with live + rewired reason 3

Post by Phorte » Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:18 pm

hi,

i have a very simple setup of a roland pc70 midi keyboard to input notes via a hercules gametheater xp soundcard (not the greatest of hardware but does the job).

i can send play the keyboard into reason 3 standalone just fine. i can do the same with live 4.04 running by itself as well. when i have reason 3 rewired into live, i can still use the keyboard to trigger live but i cant in reason 3 anymore.

i know it is possible because my music partner has almost the exact style setup (just different brand hardware) and he can input into both live and rewired reason..

is this a software issue somewhere or a soundcard issue or both?

regards,
phorte

use midiyoke . install the drivers then in live select a midi channel and its input "your keyboard" then output to one of the midiyoke channels, then in reason you need to select its input as then same midiyoke channel..

hmm sounded promising but didnt end up working :(

i installed midiyoke, in ableton set midi input as my soundcard only, and output as "MIDI Yoke NT: 1", then in reason 3, i have just the one 'control surface' of "MIDI Yoke NT: 1"..

play a key on the keyboard, and still nothing gets played in Reason :( just whatever is selected in Ableton gets triggered...

one thing that i did not setup was the actual driver proeprties for the MIDI Yoke NT driver... it has four dot points: "don't detect feedback", "detect by controller ID", "detect by data rate" and "data rate, then ctrl ID". which of these four do i select?
