Sonic Academy
Sonic Academy
Any subscriber plus members on here? How do you rate it?
There doesn’t seem to be that many videos on there, do they get added and updated very often?

Re: Sonic Academy
I had a subscription that just expired. at the time it was 89$ for a year. now I think its more.
at first it was pretty good for me to learn from
but most of their videos are for the various forms of House
which I'm not really that into so I kind of grew out of it
but overall I'd say their technique tutorials helped
I think they are the only ones that show how to produce a track from start to finish.
in retrospect I would only go with a month membership instead of a full year.
I'd give em a 7 outta 10 for a rating

Yep - I'm a subscriber too. When I first joined they were great, producing tutorials regularly and so on. I even helped organise a group buy for Lennardigital's Sylenth, and another one is in the works now.
Since November last year though things have slipped a bit. They've just relaunched themselves with a new site, and to be honest the transition has been a total balls up. The release rate of tutorial series has been abysmal, and as the last post said, their range of music is fairly limited at the moment. That said, they have promised to broaden this and fix their mistakes.
They are a small company just getting on their feet, and as such are still going through quite a few teething problems. The organisers are honest and genuine, however, and really care about what they do. I do think things will start getting back on track once the dust settles from the upheaval of the last few months.
Maybe give them a trial for a month, or join for free to have access to their forums and the regular 'Tech Tip' series of videos. The community over there is definitely one of the best on the web. Give them a try and if you like them, give it a go for a year. Once my own current subscription runs out, though, I'm going to leave it for a bit and see how they develop before subscribing again.

Re: Sonic Academy
Thanks for your advice guys. The ‘teaser’ videos on youtube and what have you seem very good and they seem like they know their stuff. I think I’ll do as you suggest and try on a month by month basis.
Cheers.

Re: Sonic Academy
guys
it's kev here from sonic academy
thanks for your posts and your feedback
we have had quite a few issues in the transition to our new website, most of which have been out of our control, but we've worked incredibly hard over the last week to get them sorted. these issues have been customer service related rather than anything to do with the quality of our content which we believe is fantastic quality and excellent value for money.
if anyone on this board is a subscriber to our site and has had problems, then let our customer service team know here - http://www.sonicacademy.com/Sonic+Acade ... vice+Form/ - and we'll make sure you have a month's free subscription on us.
best regards

Well I can’t stay logged in for some reason. I have to keep logging back in to view videos and I can’t post on the forum as I am not logged in and when I do log back in it takes me to the front end of the site. I then go back to the forum page and I am logged out. I have enabled cookies for your site also.
I have taken out a Subscription Plus account and am running Live 6 but the Project files won’t run, saying they were created in a later version of Live. Are they for Live 8 users only?

inch lo - you were banned from our forums for being abusive towards another forum member.
we have worked hard at building a supportive and open community environment and you broke those rules - your behaviour is not the sort we want on our forums.
for some reason we did not receive your emails asking for a refund but we will action this asap.
i thin it's important that the members of this forum know the full facts.

Kev, the length of time you spent on that post you could have sorted out my refund.philterino wrote:inch lo - you were banned from our forums for being abusive towards another forum member.

Re: Sonic Academy
I don’t believe any of the points I raised warrant a refund by any stretch of the imagination. The main reason I took out the subscription was for the videos which are excellent. I love the fact they’re more aimed toward Ableton and Sylenth, which suits me perfectly. Great value for money too at first glance, other sights with similar content are charging a hell of a lot more for their subscriptions.

Absolutely - I agree completely. The site is a rare find on the internet and Kev's appearance on here only goes to show how involved the people running it are.Deacon wrote:![]()
