Bome midi translator and APC (or any other controller)
Bome midi translator and APC (or any other controller)
Can someone tell me if its possible to make the lights behave differently on the APC when using Bome? Or is it just the midi messages FROM the controller into Live that can be changed or/and modified?
Could I for example make a button blink on and off when in a certain state?

Just checked of the video "APC40 Customization". That is some serious stuff going on.
Just Bomes alone can do this? No additional software or hardware or anything?
edit:
I suppose thats a yes..

Re: Bome midi translator and APC (or any other controller)
I just got to say,
After 3 days of testing Bomes, my APC and BCF lights up exactly like I needed them to do.
Day 1 - A lot of scratching my head
Day 2 - Starting to get the idea
Day 3 - Voila..!
Great stuff people!!!!!

Sorry mate, yes indeed it's a yes.... Much more can be achieved if you dive into mackie emulation and the like but i stopped at midi translations and key strokes....Rabalder wrote:Just checked of the video "APC40 Customization". That is some serious stuff going on.![]()

Bomes is a very complex program but if all that you want to do is map midi controls to keystrokes and menu items, QuicKeys is far more intuitive to use.
Re: Bome midi translator and APC (or any other controller)
Does it allow the standard functionality of the apc40 through though??

Was that question for me? Then yes. For me, my Launchpad + Nocturn (w/ guille's script) + nanoKontrol (myralfur's script) + usb keypad setup is more capable, more flexible, and still more portable/all usb-powered compared to APC40.S4racen wrote:Does it allow the standard functionality of the apc40 through though??
It's just a more customizable setup for those who want to do more than what comes with the APC40. And Bome's is far too complex and I don't really need most of its functions. I have my nanokontrol set up to have the first 2 scenes automap to arm, volume, solo, trigger, pan for 1 - 16 tracks. The 8 knobs of the 3rd scene instant automaps to any selected device in Live. The 8 top buttons for the 3rd scene also selects tracks. That leaves the remaining controls in scene 3 and 4 to be mapped to any dedicated controls and labeled using 1/4" paper tape. So I have 18 buttons between scenes 3 and 4 which essentially gives me 27 buttons that are labeled (color coded between scenes 3 & 4). I have those buttons mapped and labeled for things like track left, track right, device left, device right, device on/off, add audio track, add midi track, hide/show in/out, freeze track, flatten, slice to midi, consolidate, select loop (I have this working in session view not just arrangement), scroll, zoom, different grid sizes...etc. with a little help from an awesome utility called QuicKeys that is always on and stays out of the way with minimal CPU usage.
And I have my usb keypad customized with Controllermate and labeled as such: undo, redo, delete, duplicate, copy, cut, paste, shift tab, insert scene, insert captured scene, add midi clip, metronome, tap tempo...etc. And with Num Lock on, the arrows act as alt+arrow, and revert to regular arrows with Num Lock off.
Nocturn provides things like Quantize, pitch transpose (for both audio AND midi clips), loop start and loop length which work without having to select the loop, tempo, scrub, clip scrub...etc. It can also do a lot of the same stuff that nanoKontrol can like transport, triggering, selecting tracks, instant automapping to macros..etc so it allows for more flexible workflow. Not to mention Novation Automap itself for all third party plugins.
My point being, APC40 out of the box is still far less capable and way more bulky than I like. It doesn't even come close to what I have going on with Launchpad + Nocturn + nanoKontrol + usb keypad because I have more dedicated/labeled buttons with this setup.
Re: Bome midi translator and APC (or any other controller)
Im trying to make all the leds around one single twist knob on the APC to light up all at once when its turned all the way to the right(127). 0-126 = all leds off(exept the "pointer-led").
Its like a visual warning to show me that its turned on full(or not)..
I cant make it work with midi messages alone.. Is it possible?

I detail how to manipulate the light ring modes in

As AeonFlux points out in the post above, the documentation exists in the pdf manual for the APC40.
You'd need to write some conditional rules where if knob x=127, then send the code for light ring solid, and if knob x<127 then send the code for light ring pointer.
