Instrument Rack with several chains and Live API

Post by defetto » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:46 pm

Hi all,

two threads i started earlier both led me to the use of instrument racks, although the threads were about two different needs (that's nice, two birds with one stone)

Many thanks to Robert Henke and Christian Kleine for their precious help.

So i thought it makes sense to start a new thread, as for me this is a new starting point.

Far enough, i started building my rack and i'm having problems controlling it via the Live API.

Basically i can only access the eight macro controls of the rack, plus the chain selector (which is cool, cause i will use it a lot)..

..but what about the independent parameters for each chain (for example the pan)? Is there a way to access them from the API?

It seems that, even if i have a rack with many instruments, the API only finds one device in the track (which is the rack), and the device only has 10 parameters (the enable button, the eight macro controls and the chain selector).

Anyone? Robert? Christian?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Pedro

This is a limitation in Live which I hope Ableton is looking into. But currently it is not possible to access devices within racks from the API.
