Hi,
I don't use M4L but spotted this and I assume some of you will be interested in it
Demo video of the c74 app that lets you connect Max directly to your iPhone without having to use OSC.
The app displays user interface objects on the iPhone similar to those found in Max, the objects are created by sending messages like 'slider volume 100 100' to the c74 external (which is available for free at
http://www.nr74.org/c74/c74.zip).
Next to the user interface aspects of the app, c74 is also able to forward :
- accelerometer data
- gps
- compass
- shake gestures
- proximity sensor
For more info please visit :

btw - I read about it here

Eh, no, this is an iPhone app that lets you control Max patches directly from the phone. This has nothing to do with the Lemur.

Well, if there are Lemur applications that run on Max, that means you can do that on the iphone/ipad too. Same with monome apps.

Not exactly... The Lemur is programmed with widgets that are unique to the Lemur. You use the JazzEditor to create the screen of widgets and then connect them to a application like Max using OSC or midi. In many instances the Lemur has some logic of it's own by using javascript on the actual tablet. You can use an iPhone/iPad application that might have some widgets that may look like the Lemurs, but it will not be exactly the same. Meaning that you cannot copy a template from a Lemur and just paste it into an iPhone/iPad app... I hope this makes sense.

Yeah I understand. I suppose Jazzmutant could port the apps to the iPad if they wanted to although it sounds like they won't. But seems like it's only a matter of time that someone will write an app for the iPad that will give it the same functionality as Lemur.

Anyone else have a problem getting this to connect? The C74 app on my iphone just sits at "waiting for connection".

I've had mixed results. Sometimes a connection happens, but even then other things don't happen as expected. It's been a while since I tried it, but I never got dependable results. I'm dissapointed that the developer appears to have lost interest in this project, as it showed great promise. I'd love to have an update.

I finally got it to connect, but as mentioned above it's not consistently reliable. Apparently the developer is still selling the iphone app for $4, so maybe he's still working on an update?
